Intradrive is a B2B hardware company based in Edinburgh, Scotland. We have designed, patented and now manufacture the GD8, a sealed motor and 8-speed gearbox powertrain for e-bikes, and supply it directly to bike brands. Europe now buys twice as many e-bikes as electric cars, and around 700,000 high-end mid-drive e-bikes are sold each year across Europe, the UK and the US: the market the GD8 is built for.
Ten years of extensive R&D sit behind the GD8. The company was founder-funded and backed by Scottish Enterprise grants for its first five years, has raised seed rounds since 2022, and is supported by Scottish Enterprise. The GD8 runs on our own proprietary motor, designed and manufactured in-house in Edinburgh, where every unit is assembled and tested. Production tooling for the high-pressure die-cast case, precision gears and custom connectors is paid for and validated, and multiple patents are granted. Our first production run is underway and will ship to partner bike brands in Q4 2026.
We are scaling production with our own facility and a validated European supply chain. In parallel, we are actively exploring strategic partnership opportunities to take the GD8 to global scale, whether through co-development, manufacturing or a deeper long-term relationship.
